Apple has released an update to the iPhone which fixes a massive SMS exploit. The update weighs in at 280 MB.Apple’s knowledge base article details what the massive update fixes:

Impact: Receiving a maliciously crafted SMS message may lead to an unexpected service interruption or arbitrary code execution

Description: A memory corruption issue exists in the decoding of SMS messages. Receiving a maliciously crafted SMS message may lead to an unexpected service interruption or arbitrary code execution. In preparation of iTunes 8.1, Apple has updated the remote App for the iPhone and iPod Touch to version 1.2. The update can be downloaded for free from iTunes or downloaded (iTunes Link) from the App Store if you haven’t done so already.

Apple has released a 2.2.1 update for the iPhone today. The update improves the following:

-Miscellaneous bug fixes
-Improved general stability of Safari
-Fixed issue where some images saved from Mail do not display correctly in the Camera Roll (Thank god, that was annoying)

When the story of a girl named Lizzie texting her Dad about her first carnal experience on the beach hit the ‘net iPM was a little skeptical. This is what was said:

If you look at the image it is obviously snaps from an iPhone. But the entire thing is likely an upstart urban legend. The story might be great but there isn’t any of the back and forth you’d expect from someone who was actually guilty of something.

Turns out that Lizzie is a horrible liar and iPM’s skepticism was misplaced. The incident caused such a stir that people now know more than they ever should about the 18 year old doing what a lot of 18 year olds do when left alone with members of the opposite sex.
