Always one to boast about its network or bemoan rivals, Verizon has made a bold statement about the iPhone: they’d retract their stance on the iPhone and offer a model that runs on its upcoming 4G network.
All wireless carriers in the US are switching to the more advanced 4G network (based on LTE) and will eventually dump their 3G networks in the coming decade. While Verizon and Sprint utilize CDMA for their wireless connection in lieu of AT&T and T-Mobile using GSM, having an LTE connection would make phones much more universal with other carriers. This is what Verizon’s CEO, Ivan Seidenberg, is hoping for, that Apple will reconsider their approach to the iPhone and offer a 4G model so it can be used on their network with ease. Verizon later revealed he regretted choosing other touch screen phones over the iPhone.

Congratulations to Andrew Clark AKA Clarkbar6 from Haddonfield, NJ. His video entry in the “I Want to Win an iPhone from iPhoneMatters.com” Contest titled, “The Last Straw” was chosen from dozens of entries as the winner of a brand new 8GB iPhone.
Andrew’s entry impressed the judges with his overall concept, his craftsmanship, and his brilliant homage to the Office Space printer scene. View his entry below:
Here’s what Andrew had to say:
I’m from Haddonfield, a small town in South Jersey about 10 minutes over the bridge from Philadelphia (Go Phillies!). I’m a student at Northeastern University, and though I’m home now for the summer, the video was shot at school in Boston. That is actually not me in the video, that Oscar performance goes to my roommate Nick (I hope he doesn’t want me to share, I’ll have to do something for him.) The idea for the movie was somewhat autobiographical. Since seeing all the cool things that the iPhone could do, I would get more and more frustrated everyday with my current device. The Moto V180 phone that was destroyed in the video was… more...

Universal Pictures is giving away a ton of prizes including 10 iPhones for their “The Ultimate Search for Bourne” online game. This promotin, tied to the upcoming Matt Damon movie, The Bourne Ultimatum, this online game utilizes various Google apps like Maps, Search, Images, Translate, and YouTube. The grand prize is a VW Touareg 2 and a four-city trip to destinations featured in the movie and $25,000.
But the coolest part of this promotion, in my opinion, is the “Sightings” mini-game where “users must successfully “catch” Jason
Bourne at least 25 times via a surveillance camera placed on a Google Map”. Successfully catch Jason Bourne and you could win an iPhone.
Sounds like a cool integrated promotion utilizing Google functionality. So if making a video or image for the “Win an iPhone from iPhoneMatters.com” Contest isn’t your thing, maybe spending countless hours in front of your computer is. Good luck!
