First impressions
I got the 16gb white iPhone.
The staff at AT&T were totally buttoned up and prepared. The first thing I noticed was the feel of the new form factor. For those who are used to holding the older iPhone you will notice the curved edges and plastic back actually feels more like the iPod touch.
The 3g connection I’d noticeably faster. I’m looking forward to
testing out downloading apps straight from the iPhone. For now I am going to work.
Tonight I will write a more I’m depth write up.
Thanks to everyone who has followed me over the last few hours. Like last year it was a very fun and rewarding experience despite how tired I feel.

more...Getting it activated
Takes way longer to activate than last year. The white one is awesome! I’m glad I decided to go white.

We are ready to roll. There are 10 stations set up so I should be out of here by 8:15. More blogging after the new iPhone is in my hand. Will still be a gametine decision for color.

It has started to rain. Fortunately I am right under the awning. The guy to the right of me is loving life. The guy on the left is bitching he didnt come 30 minutes earlier.
There’s about 60-70 people here right now.
So I had a longer post that I lost because my iPhone crashed! How ironic that i will be getting a new one shortly.

Only 30 minutes left. Just downed a chicken biscuit from chick-fil-a and it was served by a woman wearing a cow tail. I digress.
Although it is incredibly humid here it hasn’t rained yet. These guys in the store are like a well oiled machine in there. They seem much more prepared this year compared to last year. They have handled the crowds well and seem to be ready for the activation process.
The process is supposed to take 15 minutes each so the people 50 people deep will be here for a couple of hours. Even with the 12 employees in the store.

more...7:15 AM: to go white or not
For those that know me you will know how crazy this sounds. I may consider getting the white model. Why? Mainly because it will clearly differentiate from the first gen models. I question whether it will get dirty or not. I’m going to wait and see the white one in person and make a gametine decision. What do you think? Should I go for the white one?

Its amazing what a little break can do. I ran across the street to
grab an iced latte at starbucks. Even though they supplied free coffee I needed something iced. Its balmy out here. So I took a leak,
splashed water on my face, stretched the legs out.
The manager hooked up some fans out here. Only 50 minutes to go.
Most everyone here is upgrading from existing iPhone’s and everyone motivated enough to get here early are going for the 16 gb model.

And there is a free coffee stand set up. But all any if us wants is a chicken biscuit.
The AT&T employees are getting settled in their stations and it looks like they just got out of a team meeting. Perhaps a little training session.
The group here in line is pretty diverse. Men, women, young and old are here early.
The number one theme right now is how no one is looking forward to going to work.

more...6:48 AM: justification!
Just when I was starting to feel like a dumbass for waiting in line early, the manager came out and said they have limited quantities of the 16gb model. He asked for a show of hands of who wanted 16 gb
models and about 15 people in he said, ” you better start calling around”. Crazy. But psyched to have justification for my early arrival time.
