User Suing Apple Because of False Advertising
I knew it would happen eventually. It’s a lawsuit-filled world out there. Someone’s got to do it.
Some users have been experiencing some problems with the 3G on their iPhone 3G, and one new owner has decided to try to get her money’s worth.
A women in Alabama by the name of Jessica Alena Smith has filed a lawsuit against Apple for selling her a device that didn’t meet all the hype in the advertisements.
Smith purchased the device in response to Apple’s very convincing advertising. “One could barely turn on the television without hearing that the new iPhone 3G was ‘twice as fast for half the price,’” reads the complaint.
However, from day one her device’s data connection, e-mail, SMS, and other communications were slower than she had expected them to be.
Of course, she’s far from alone in her frustration, so many users are probably cheering her on. That is also why she asked for a class-action case.
Do you think she’ll be successful?

Nike+ on the iPhone {Updated}
We’ve all known that Nike+ was supposed to come to the iPhone, we’ve just been waiting a bit longer than expected. So what is in store for us? Nike+iPhone=Awesome!
Or a lot of great features and smart implementation, Nike+ definitely uses the iPhone’s technology to its advantage to create a better user experience and offer a better feature set.
Because of the capabilities of the iPhone, a lot of the stuff that Nike+ used to run on the Mac and on the Web are now being run on the iPhone itself.
You’re able to keep track of all the classic stats and maybe even map out your route with GPS. So the iPhone’s sensors and chips are going to be well used by this app.
Looks very promising…

{UPDATE}
So it turns out that the supposed screenshots that were leaked to iPhone.fr were in fact faked. AppleInsider noticed that the app showed someone using it to listen to a Coldplay song, but Apple doesn’t offer developers a way to play music on the… more...
$700 iPhone To Start Selling in India
Though I’ve seen astronomical prices on Ebay, it is more startling that an actually service provider will offer the iPhone at $700!
Word has it that Vodafone will be offering up Apple’s latest 8GB handset for a mind-boggling Rs 31,000 ($712), or Rs 36,100 ($830) for the 16GB iPhone. Why??
Vodafone nor Airtel will subsidize the phone. To add insult to injury, there’s not even a 3G network running in India..

Apple Releases 2.0.2 Update
Just two weeks after version 2.0.1, Apple has released version 2.0.2 but what does this update include?
At 248.7MB this update seems like it should include a lot more, however, no one has noticed any sign of change.
Perhaps maybe it has something to do with MobileMe seeing as how I received an email from Apple about updates to MobileMe.
Others around the internet noticed:
*No new settings appear to have been included.
*Some users report faster browsing, though this may be due to cleared cache.
*Typing lag may be reduced.
*Apps don’t require updates; NetShare still works.
*Transition from music list to Coverflow has changed.
If you’ve noticed something in particular, let us know!

A new patent application by Apple reveals that Apple has been working on the ability for iPhone and iPod touch owners to wirelessly stream content from their at home iTunes library for use on the road.
iPhone or iPod touch owners must selectively sync content from their Mac or PC’s iTunes library. This transfers those items to the mobile device for later playback. Apple is proposing that mobile device owners could instead access their entire collection over Wi-Fi or cellular networks:
New versions iTunes and the iPhone Software could theoretically eliminate this problem by syncing only the metadata—or tiny files containing the barebones attributes of each media item or playlist but not the content itself—from a user’s iTunes library to their portable devices.
This is all done by using metadata. Appleinsider reports: “Using this metadata, iPhones and iPods would contain “virtual media items” representing every playlist, video, photo, and mobile game stored on their computer, even if the sum of those files would ordinarily be too large to fit onto the devices’ hard disk drive or flash drive. This is possible because metadata capable of… more...
NetShare Lets You Wirelessly Share Internet
The web is abuzz about this little program that popped up on the App Store yesterday. Appropriately named, NetShare creates a proxy and establishes a pseudo-hotspot with your iPhone’s connection leaving you free to surf the web on your laptop.
It’s tethering, more or less. The concept of the app is to essentially use your iPhone’s 3G or EDGE connection for your laptop. With WiFi quite prevalent, I am not sure why one would do that, but it is cool.
Not quite sure how they managed to get through Apple’s heavily guarded security entrance, but Apple apparently got word of the infiltration and immediately took the app out of the store.
Unfortunately, I passed right by it not thinking anything about the app and didn’t download it, but did you happen to get it and if so, how is it?
3 Easy Steps to Share Apps Between iPhones
I live in a household with more than one iPhone user (that I helped to cross over
) and it quickly became a dilemma of wether or not we should purchase the same app more than once or just not use the app at all. I found out about a method that may help users in my dilemma.
The solution uses the abilities currently present in iTunes to authorize and download the application to other iTunes libraries so you do not need to worry about hacking your device at all.
1. First, you’ll want to log in to your friend/family’s iTunes library using the AppleID you used to purchase the Application....Check
2. Go to the application that you are purchasing and click “Buy Application”. The App Store should give the following prompt: “You already purchased this application. To download it again for free select OK.” ...Check
3. Select OK, download the app, then log out of your account, and you should be able to sync the application with the iPhone that is connected to that iTunes library!
Sounds pretty simple, eh? I tried… more...
Mobile Safari Much Faster in iPhone 2.0
Despite random crashes and being pretty buggy, the iPhone 2.0 software does have something going for it (besides all the other cool features).
Safari, if you haven’t noticed, is a lot speedier when compared to the iPhone 1.1.4 software. When downloaded on my old iPhone, I could definitely see the improvement.
However, I have an untrained eye when it comes to detailed analysis of subtle software improvements, so you don’t have to take my word for it. An extensive test was done by John Gruber detailing his results.
“In side-by-side page loading tests between two original iPhones running 1.1.4 and 2.0.0, the new version consistently finished at least a few seconds faster.”
Perhaps not the most noticeable trait of the iPhone 2.0 software, but definitely a nice change.
iPhone 3G Finder Tool
Most of you may know that it is hard to find a iPhone 3G, especially if you are in the 23/38 states that sell iPhone at Apple retails stores.
I already have my iPhone 3G, but I still like to check and see what the availability of it is. Of course, Apple has their own tool to see if it is available in your area, however, I stumbled over a new tool that is just a tad cooler, revealing availability on a google map instead.
If you head over here and search, you may be able to find yourself an iPhone 3G. It may be a little tough to find a black 16GB because apparently those are the most popular, but good things come to those who wait.
iPhone 2.0 Software Confirmed for July 11th
As if there was a chance the iPhone 2.0 software was not known to be released with the iPhone 3G, Apple has made available a guide that confirms a July 11th release.
Apple has posted a guide for setting up MobileMe on your Mac or PC and your iPhone.
As well as being a useful guide, the page also reveals the official launch date for the iPhone 2.0 software update; July 11th.
You can find the page on Apple’s website at apple.com/mobileme/setup.
