Featured iPhone App: tipTapp

imageSay you are out with friends at a restaurant and you decide to split the bill and figure out the tip. What are you to do? Well, you could figure out the calculations with a pen and a napkin. Or, maybe you use that plastic tip calculator card that you got from your local insurance agent. By far, the slickest way to do it would be to use your iPhone.

If you don’t have a “Beautiful Mind” or blessed with Mensa-like math abilities, you should use tipTapp. This nifty application takes the total bill, your desired percentage of tip and then the number of people you want to split amongst..

Personally, I think it is tacky to split a bill down to the penny but some people feel differently than me. Although this application works well for the iPhone, if you have installer.app the application iSplit is a little more useful as you aren’t dependent on a connection. Click here to try out this application.

  1. Thanks for the nice review! Regarding offline access, I’ve just added a link to the bottom of tipTapp that will work without a connection. Simply click on the offline access link and bookmark that page and you can pull it up anytime you want - with or without a connection.

I would agree with you on splitting the bill…if everyone is going cash-based there is no need to get down to the penny - or even cents for that matter. If the waiter/waitress splits the total bill between 3 different credit cards than tipTapp makes it very easy to fill out the bill.
